higher law in
journalism than to
tell the truth and to

remain detached

Placements and Internships
Journalism Mentor will ensure that students undergo a comprehensive two-month training programme with reputed media institutions in different parts of the country. Mentors Shishir Joshi and Aloke Thakore will guide and help in the placement of the graduates based on their interests and needs. The students of the previous batch have found employment in Careers 360, Mid-Day, The Telegraph and Times Now.

How exclusive is it?
Twenty-five students from across the country will be accepted in the programme. The number of students is keeping in mind the need for individual attention from the mentors and the ability to tailor the programme to meet the needs of each student.

Who should apply?
Graduates of any discipline who are interested in wanting to be journalists. There is no minimum cut-off kept for applying because it has been the experience of some mentors that some students who are otherwise exceptionally bright and hardworking are on occasion not able to perform well in examinations because of unforeseen events and causes. Since our examination system does not allow one to re-appear in the examination, there are good students whose careers are severely affected by their inability for whatever reason to perform on a given day. THERE IS NO ENTRANCE EXAMINATION.

Do I need to know English?
The programme is open to aspirants who are fluent in any Indian language, which will be the language in which they would like to report. Lack of fluency in English will not be held against any applicant as long as they are willing to learn the language as a means of accessing texts written or more easily available in the English language. Most of the Mentors are fluent in more than one language.

Early Admission
Early admission is a way for bright students to apply early, get a decision about their admission so that they can either secure their seat and not worry about applying to other institutions or can work towards other institutions in case they are unable to secure a seat. It gives bright students an early decision and also makes it easy to plan their last months in college. Also, those applying for early admission will not be competing with those who apply in the regular schedule at a later date.

Accreditation
Even though the JM Foundation for Excellence in Journalism is an affiliate member of the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication and an Institutional Member of the International Communication Association, and is keen to adapt the best teaching practices, Journalism Mentor is not accredited by any institution. This helps us keep our teaching curriculum and methods flexible.
